Bonifacio Gas Corporation (BGC) was incorporated on November 12, 1998. The company was formed to build and operate an underground pipeline network that will provide a centralized gas distribution system within the Bonifacio Global City, in support of Fort Bonifacio Development Corp.’s (FBDC) corporate credo of creating a globally-competitive metropolis and to ensure the provision of world-class utilities, including piped gas. A centralized gas distribution system is, therefore, a necessary support infrastructure for the Bonifacio Global City. Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. was chosen as the joint venture partner of FBDC in this endeavor because of Shell’s experience in doing piped gas installations in the Philippines, as well as in other industrialized countries.

Initially, the Company’s objective is to construct a reticulation network and strategically located tank farm/s to enable safe and efficient distribution of piped gas to the end users of the global city. In the future, it will also extend its network to areas outside of the global city. To help promote the sales of piped gas and as an auxiliary business, the company has joined forces with reputable suppliers / dealers of efficient and tested gas-fired appliances and offer premium packages to the end users. The company, therefore, aims to introduce and promote both the traditional and non-traditional uses of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Initially, concentration will be focused on cooking, air-conditioning, heating and clothes drying applications. In the future, the automotive application of LPG will also be explored.
Piped LPG/Gas
The fuel of choice, at least for the next fifteen years, is LPG. It is a mixture of Propane and Butane and is either extracted from the ground or is a bi-product of crude refining. It is used mostly for cooking and is usually stored in cylinders. For industrial usage, a central tank is installed to serve a number of establishments with various applications. It is seen that natural gas, which will be extracted off Palawan by the beginning of year 2002, will eventually replace LPG and as such the company will readily shift to carry and distribute the product.
Other Products & Services
The company will not only concentrate in selling LPG through a pipeline network. It will also provide its customers a total service offering. This package starts with the supply of LPG from a central storage facility and distributed through a pipeline network.
LPG would then be available on demand. There will be no need to order and have the LPG cylinders picked-up or delivered to your doorstep. It will be like one’s electrical and water supply. It will eventually be one of the essential utility requirements of any household and commercial establishment.
Furthermore, the company will also offer high quality gas-fired appliances/systems like gas stoves, water heaters, clothes dryers, air-conditioning systems, industrial kitchen equipment and boilers and, eventually, automotive. These products will not be directly manufactured nor produced by the company but rather be sold by tie-up original equipment manufacturers and/or dealers through BGC.
These will all be backed up by a Customer Assistance Center which will be available upon start of actual operation to serve the needs of the market from LPG related problems to appliance breakdown. It will also provide training to users on the properties and proper and safe use of LPG and its applications. It will be manned by trained individuals knowledgeable on the software and hardware side of the business.
